Local attorney Shannon Stevens is asking Ottawa High School, the Ottawa City Council, and the Ottawa Y to chip in for a community center feasibility study. This week, the high school board agreed.

The Ottawa Elementary School Board approved a $10.8 million tax levy request for FY2015 last night. Superintendent Cleve Threadgill says that’s less than they asked for last year.

The Freezin’ for a Reezin’ food drive collected 30 tons of food this year. The amount of money raised this year was over $42,000, double the amount of money raised last year.

A Streator man who tried to stab his ex-girlfriend with a sword back in July pleaded guilty Friday to attempted murder. 30-year old William J. Milian avoided trial by entering his guilty plea and the original charges of aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery were dropped.
