St. Rep. Tom Demmer is trying again with a financial transparency bill for local governments. The Dixon Republican’s bill passed the Illinois House unanimously last year, but it stalled in the Senate.

Governor Quinn is giving LaSalle and Putnam Counties more than $3.8 million for road projects. The money is part of the governor’s Illinois Jobs Now capital construction program. Over $1.2 million of that money will be used on three bridges along Illinois Route 170 south of U.S. Route 6 in LaSalle County.

The Marseilles City Council honored Police Chief Jim Hovious last night for 25 years of service in law enforcement for the city. Public Safety Commissioner Jim Hollenbeck praised Hovious for staying in Marseilles.
