Barbara M. Myers, 68

Barbara M. (Frank) Myers
1945~2013

Barbara M. (Frank) Myers, 68, of Ottawa died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Cabin Livin’ Senior Residential Facility near Hennepin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, at St. Columba Church, Ottawa with her brother-in-law, the Most Rev. John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, NJ and Rev. David Kipfer, pastor officiating. Cremation rites will follow according to her wishes.  Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa.

Barbara was born on March 24, 1945 in Berwyn, IL to Charles Harlan and Martha (Johnson) Frank.  After several years as a stay-at-home mother and neighborhood babysitter, she earned her LPN and RN degrees from IVCC and worked for 13 years as a post-surgical nurse at Ottawa Community Hospital.  After that she enjoyed many years as a babysitting grandmother.

Barb’s greatest joys in life have been raising her four kids (especially when they were young), taking care of grandkids over the years, playing the piano, listening to music of all kinds, especially Willie Nelson, walking the beach at Ft. Myers Beach, going to plays and concerts in Chicago and just living in the big old house on Ottawa’s southside for 40 years.

Barbara is survived by her husband, William; three sons, William Jr. (Denise), John (Traci), Timothy (Doug) and a daughter Maribeth (Phil).  She dearly loved her twelve grandchildren, Shannon (Tim), Jessica, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jordan, Andrew, Skylar, Lucas, Daniel, Amina, Otis and a great-granddaughter, Lyla and a soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Jaxon.

She is also survived by a brother, Charles (Linda), and an aunt, Mrs. Ruth Johnson and two cousins, Lynn and Scott.  She was loved by her three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law from the Myers clan along with thirteen nieces and nephews and all her family and friends.

Barbara was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a loving, giving heart to all she met.  She will be deeply missed by us all but she will be in each one of our hearts and souls for the rest of our lives.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family wishes, Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois or Cabin Livin’ Senior Care, Hennepin.
