Ottawa Industrial Park expansion plan on file

Ottawa, Ill. -- Ottawa’s city council has placed on file a land purchase arrangement for expanding the Ottawa Industrial Park. Cristal Metals, previously called International Titanium Powder, would buy 32.5 acres for $667,000 when everything falls into place.
For now, the city’s working on getting some grants to cover the $4.5 million cost of running new sewer and water lines, paving a new street, and building a new railroad spur. Mayor Bob Eschbach says there are some conditions for taking the land back if Cristal doesn’t develop it very fast.
Developing at all has been a challenge for the titanium powder company ever since it came to town, in part, because financing often came with conditions the company found too restrictive.
