Pieces of riverfront school could stay along riverfront

news@ottawaradio.net
Ottawa, Ill. -- Some pieces of the old Central School building might stay in Ottawa.
City Engineer Dave Noble says the demolition contractor is working on tearing the concrete off the steel rebar and wires. If the concrete comes clear, it can be used as riprap to stabilize the city’s riverbanks that are prone to erosion.
The city might need to put riprap along the Fox River anyway, so recycling the concrete now can save a lot of money later.

Demolition at the Central School site is nearly complete.
