It took about two hours for all twelve jurors to find Steve Patterson not guilty on all counts Thursday afternoon. Patterson was charged with illegally taking a bird of prey and illegally taking a protected species for rescuing two baby eagles that’d fallen from their nest after a severe storm back in the spring of 2013.

A nature photographer who spends most of his free time watching, studying and photographing eagles has been charged with several conservation violations, thousands of dollars in fines and up to a year in prison for saving two baby eaglets.

The Ottawa Township High School Board agreed to start seeking bids to re-purpose the swimming pool area. Superintendent Matt Winchester says fixing the leaky pool is too costly, so their looking at turning the space into something else.
