Ottawa, Ill. -- Electronic books are becoming popular at Reddick Library.
Director Kathy Clair says downloading them couldn’t be done two years ago. In the 2010-2011 fiscal year, there were 829 downloads. In the 2011-2012 fiscal year, there were 4,803.
That’s almost a six-fold increase. Reddick is buying more digital material too.
Clair says it’s not a fad. People who shop on the Internet from the convenience of their own homes day or night want to borrow books that way too.
