Dr. Donald S. Kranov, 92, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Pleasant View.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, at The First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa with Rev. John Walker, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Donald was born on March 3, 1921 in Walnut, IL to Arthur S. and Ida Mae (Ethridge) Kranov. He married Helen M. Gurley on December 24, 1944. They were married sixty-two years. Helen passed away September 24, 2007.
He attended Illinois Wesleyan University and Loyola Dental School in Chicago. He practiced dentistry in Ottawa for over thirty years and after retirement volunteered at the hospital and enjoyed golfing, bridge and yard work. He was a longtime member of Deer Park Country Club, a Rotarian and the local Elks Lodge. He always loved to be with his family and enjoyed any family activity especially a round of golf. He was very proud of his military service having served two tours of duty in the United States Navy. His warmth, compassion and smile will be sadly missed.
He is survived by one son, Jon (Renee) Kranov of Ottawa, IL, two grandchildren Shane (Leonore) Kranov of Elmhurst, IL and Karissa (Nicholas) Naas of Dayton, OH and five great grandchildren Sebastian, Tatiana, Christian, Seraphina and Finley.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2007 and one son, Donald S. “Stan” Kranov, Jr. in 1967.
