PADS homeless shelters opening for new season
Ottawa, Ill. -- The PADS homeless shelters in Ottawa and Peru helped 280 people last season, and they’re getting ready for another season starting Sunday night. Illinois Valley PADS Executive Director Carol Alcorn says the season runs from Labor Day to Memorial Day now, to cover most of the school year.
She’ll need a lot of volunteer hours before it ends. Donations are welcome too.
Alcorn says 24 families stayed at the shelters last season. Thirty-eight guests were children.
PADS provides services to help them get back on their feet.
