Next U.S. E.P.A. meeting for Wedron residents
Serena, Ill. -- The next U.S. Environmental Protection Agency public meeting on the Wedron water contamination is Wednesday, September 18 at 5pm at Serena High School.
Every few weeks, the agency holds a meeting to tell Wedron residents what’s being done to solve the problem they have with benzene in some drinking water there.
A few homes have benzene filters on their pipes. A permanent solution is likely to involve drilling a new well to an uncontaminated aquifer and setting up a water treatment system.
The E.P.A. says the benzene, a gasoline component, appears to have come from several sources.
