Big state contribution helps IVCC toward fundraising goal
Oglesby, Ill. -- The Illinois Valley Community College fundraising campaign for furnishing and equipping the new Peter Miller Community Technology Center is almost all the way to its $2.1 million goal. IVCC announced this morning, the Illinois Community College Board is giving $200,000. Since last year, the college has obtained many smaller donations to get up to $1.8 million as of earlier this month.
College Pres. Jerry Corcoran says St. Rep. Frank Mautino, a Spring Valley Democrat, helped arrange the special donation of $200,000.
The new technology center is scheduled for a grand opening on November 1 and for students to take classes in it in January.
The state paid 75% of the $30.5 million building cost already.
