Irene Fike, 93

Irene Fike, 93, of Aurora, formerly of Ottawa, where she resided most of her life, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Country Care Centre in Aurora.
Private burial services have been held.
Irene was born August 28, 1920, to Michael and Anna (Mathy) Zimmerman in Pearl City, Illinois. She was a 1938 graduate of Ottawa Township High School. She married Russell C. Fike, Jr. in June of 1945, at St. Columba Church. He passed away on August 22, 1971.
She worked at ASC Farm Bureau for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Sr. Janet’s Prayer Group, Ottawa Senior Citizen Club, AARP, and AFCME.
Prior to her retirement, she was the Office Manager at the Assessment Office for twenty years as a secretary for the Board of Review for twenty years. After retirement she worked part-time as a caregiver and receptionist at Pleasant View for twenty years.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay Warden of Montgomery, IL; three grandsons, Chris of TX, Jason (Heidi) of WI, and Brent Hyatt of TN; ten great-grandchildren, Lucas, Carter, Olivia, Charlie, Konrad, Brent Jr., Arden, Lauren, Sutherland, and Gibson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Walter Zimmerman and Dale Zimmerman; and one aunt, Daisy Whitney.
