Dale Rabe, 89, of Ottawa, died Saturday morning, October 5, at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. David Davies, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, where full military rites will be conducted.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday October 7 at the funeral home.
Dale was born on February 26, 1924 in South Ottawa Township to Frank and Laura (DeBolt) Rabe. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Panama Canal during WWII.  Dale married Joyce Morgan in 1949, in Dixon.  He was an operator for Libbey-Owens-Ford for 32 years until his retirement. 
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two daughters, Pamela (Richard) Simione, of Cheshire, CT, Peggy (Chuck) Jacobs, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and one son James (Maureen) Rabe, of Elk Grove Village, IL.,  5 grandchildren:  Emilee Brown, Edward Kasik,, Julie Lane, Emma Rabe, and Grace Rabe, 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Celia Lane, Ian and Lola Brown and Helena and Markus Kasik and two sisters, Irene Hoenshell, of Salt Lake City, and Hazel Crouch, of Streator. 
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristin Rabe, and 1 sister, Vera Hettel.
Pallbearers will be the American Legion Honor Guard.
