St. Rep. Anthony files first bill as legislator to get rid of certain salaries

news@ottawaradio.net
Springfield, Ill. -- State Rep. John Anthony’s first bill filing is to eliminate salaries for certain part-time state board and commissions. Anthony says there are 17 board and commissions whose members draw a total of about $4 million a year.

Anthony says that after all Illinois has been through financially, he’s surprised these kinds of salaries are still paid.
Since his bill was just filed, it could take a few months to get out of committee and to the House floor for a debate and vote. And as with any bill, there’s a chance it could die in committee.
Anthony’s sound bite came from the Illinois House Republican press office.
