Lawyer says he believes more strip search victims are out there

news@ottawaradio.net
Chicago -- The lawyer for a Coal City woman suing LaSalle County over an alleged illegal strip search says he believes there are more women victims. Terry Ekl has filed a request with the federal court in Chicago asking that the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department be ordered to preserve any video evidence of inmates being searched.
His request doesn’t name any plaintiffs besides Dana Holmes, the woman who’s already suing.
Holmes is serving a conditional discharge sentence for drunk driving. Marseilles police arrested her in May and took her to the county jail where the lawsuit alleges three male officers and a female forcibly undressed Holmes.
The Sheriff’s Department and the State’s Attorney’s Office have declined comment.
