Treasurer candidate Cross could resort to drastic measures over budget problems

Ottawa, Ill. -- Republican State Treasurer candidate Tom Cross says the state’s pension problem could call for drastic measures. He says, if elected, he’d go to court to demand a balanced budget and a pension solution that’s fair to the pensioners.
Cross says if things keeping going the way they are, Illinois will someday be broke. Meanwhile, the state spends $5 million in interest every day because it has to borrow money. The money paid on interest can’t go to education, public safety, or anything else.
