Mysterious powder trail left in Ottawa not hazardous
Ottawa, Ill. -- Someone hauling a sandy powder through Ottawa arrived with a lighter load than he or she started with Wednesday. The powder spilled from a vehicle that traveled from one end of Ottawa to another.
The Ottawa Fire Department didn’t find anything hazardous in it, but couldn’t identify just what it was or what truck it may have leaked from.
A trail of the stuff came into Ottawa along Illinois 71 on the northeast side. It went to Norris Dr. and Columbus St. where there was a pile of it. Then it went south on Illinois 23 out of town.
A city street sweeper cleaned up the mess.
