Charles  Lewis Wagner, 81, of Ottawa died on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the LaSalle Veteran’s Home in LaSalle
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Charles was born on February 17, 1932 in Ottawa, to Charles and Myra (Dixon) Wagner. He married Patricia A. Carr on August 7, 1952 in California. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Charles volunteered 5244 hours at the Community Hospital. He owned and operated Wagner’s Variety Stores in Ottawa and Indiana, and retired from Eby Brown in Aurora in 1997.
Charles was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Starting in early spring till late fall you would find him in either his vegetable or flower garden. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and also his blonde cocker spaniel, Katie.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, 2 sons, Michael (Patricia) Wagner, of Seattle and Dr. Steven (Karen) Wagner, of Minneapolis, a daughter Lynn Covington, of Ottawa, 6 grandchildren, Michael, Allison and Marie Wagner, Stacey and Ryan Covington and Kelsey Wagner, 1 great grandson Ethan Barry, 2 sisters, Charlene Schomas, of Ottawa and Deanie O’Connell, of Garden Grove, Cal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the LaSalle Veteran’s Home or the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
