Fish not biting for Ottawa at state bass fishing final

CARLYLE, Ill. – After being shut out on Friday, the Ottawa bass fishing team simply had too much ground to make up on Day 2.

The team of Cahill Horner, Jake Less, Brandon Simmons and Travis Denham caught a pair of fish Saturday to get on the board, finishing 46th of 65 teams with a total weight of three pounds, seven ounces.

Sandwich sent two teams, with their second boat doing best.  The trio of Michael Dobbs, T.J. Ostreko and Hunter Calvert caught four fish Friday to enter Saturday in 11th place, then caught two more to finish 16th with a total catch of 12 pounds, 10 ounces.

The first Sandwich boat placed 36th, catching three fish for a total of five pounds, nine ounces.

Moline, Pinckneyville, Highland 1, Zion-Benton and Frankfort all caught a tournament-best 10 fish, but Moline earned victory with a total weight of 26 pounds, eight ounces.
