Thursday prep sports roundup

OTTAWA, Ill. – The varsity baseball game between Ottawa and Sterling Thursday was postponed due to rain. It will be made up Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Ottawa High School. Coverage on Full Service 1430 WCMY (weather permitting) begins around 4:25.
Varsity baseball featuring Marquette and Henry-Senachwine was also postponed due to unplayable field conditions. It will be made up Saturday at 4 p.m. at Masinelli Field following the Johnny Mac Tournament.
Serena 11, Amboy 2
The Ottawa sophomore squad was able to travel to Sterling and get their game in. They defeated Sterling 9-1.
The Marquette freshman squad defeated Seneca 7-2 Wednesday. Ben Kowalski was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Jake Jeanblanc earned the victory in relief.
LOW POINT, Ill. – The varsity softball game between Marquette and Low Point-Washburn/Roanoke-Benson was postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been set.
Amboy 4, Serena 1
STREATOR, Ill. – Haleigh Couch doubled, tripled and drove in four runs to lead the Marquette JV squad to a 13-3 win over Streator Woodland in five innings.
Aurora Flavel collected two hits and an RBI, and Cate Thompson drove in two runners for the Lady Crusaders (14-1-1).
OTTAWA, Ill. – Ottawa found the net twice Thursday but could not hold off Yorkville, falling 4-2 to the Lady Foxes.
Peyton Auter and Cassidy Harsted had the markers for the Lady Pirates. Katie Pubentz and Maggie Landers combined to make eight saves in the loss.
Earlier, Ottawa JV defeated Yorkville 3-1. Harsted, Esmeralda Cruz and Abby Pitstick scored for the Lady Pirates.
Shane Reynolds’ three-RBI day led the Naplate Titans to an 8-2 victory over Streator.
The 11U Titans stayed undefeated on the season, improving to 14-0. Trez Rybarczyk was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Naplate.
Kadon Harth earned the win, striking out eight in the contest.
