Thursday prep sports roundup

PREP BASEBALL
SANDWICH, Ill. – Sandwich rallied from a late 4-2 deficit Thursday to win a tune-up with Yorkville 5-4.

After Yorkville plated two in the opening half-inning, Sandwich answered in the bottom of the second with two runs, both coming with two outs.

The Foxes went back in front in the fifth, taking advantage of two Sandwich errors to push another two runs across. But Sandwich started the home half with singles from Trevor Dabbert, Zach Fordon and Liam Crotty, followed by a sacrifice fly from Bailey Watros and another single from Austin Smith.

That put the Indians ahead 5-4, and Fordon retired the final six batters he faced to claim the win. He allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out five.
