UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Rookie Alyssa Thomas scored 12 of her 23 points in the third quarter and had 11 rebounds to lead the Connecticut Sun to their sixth straight victory, 79-69 over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night.
Katie Douglas added 19 points for the Sun, Alex Bentley had 12 points and nine assists, and Chiney Ogwumike finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Sylvia Fowles had 17 points and nine rebounds in her season debut for the Sky. She missed the first 13 games after having arthroscopic surgery to repair a hip injury.
Elena Delle Donne scored 13 points for Chicago. She missed the previous five games because of Lyme disease.
Down by six at halftime, the Sun opened the second half with a 22-2 run. Thomas scored 10 points during that stretch, and made two free throws to make it 63-47 with 3:19 remaining in the third.
