On Thursday we will find out how you can have some fun celebrating St.Patrick's Day in Chicago. We will talk to Karen Vaughan from the Chicago Office of Tourism. Also, that great guy, Scott Vogel with the American Red Cross of the Heartland will be with us. All this and some McDonald's gift certificates to give away on "The Second Cup" Thursday.
About the Show...
Weekday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., The Second Cup is dedicated to reaching out and helping others, all the while having fun. You can catch frequent segments like, "Who's On You Leash," committed to connecting families with pets who need a home. Other segments, like the "Red Cross Minute," "Ottawa Elementary School Report," and the "Ottawa High School Booster Club Break with Mike Cooper" let you know what's going on in the community.
Although The Second Cup focuses on serious topics important to the listeners and me, there's also an element of fun. You have to have light time in life, or else you'd cry. It's sometimes easier to help people with a genuine smile, which can really warm the heart of a person struggling. You have the chance to win something nearly every day, like gift certificates, show tickets, or even books.
Every once in a while, Ottawa's very own, Jonathan Freeburg joins the show for madness and mayhem. He's worked with "Second City," and now works for Lloyd's of London. Years ago, he worked Chicago Radio, but has since come to Ottawa to make his home. You never know what craziness can happen when Jonathan's in the studio. You'll laugh so hard, you'll cry.
