Ottawa -- The City Council meeting two weeks from now might be when Ottawa Mayor Bob Eschbach announces what changes he wants to make to the city’s liquor license ordinance. The mayor and the city’s liquor license holders met behind closed doors at City Hall Monday night.
A concern has been raised about private clubs with liquor licenses holding public events such as fundraisers and cutting into the action of private businesses with higher priced licenses. Non-profit private clubs pay $450 for their licenses. Businesses pay $900.
American Legion bar manager Carl Herzog believes the Legion will be fine with some small changes, because it’s not a threat.
Those who were in the meeting Monday night said there was a positive exchange of ideas from each side.
