Ottawa -- It’ll cost $29,046 to remove asbestos from the Centrue Bank building that’s being turned into the Illinois Valley Community College Ottawa center. The City Council Tuesday night approved the low bid of Celtic Environmental of Lyons, Illinois to do that work. That money’s coming from the city’s Enterprise Zone Capital Improvement Fund.
The city is buying the building at Main and Canal streets to lease to IVCC. After some remodeling, it’s supposed to reopen as a college satellite campus in time for fall classes.
