Pluto book author to visit Streator City Hall Friday

Streator, IL -- On the heels of “Nova – The Pluto Files”, the city where Clyde Tombaugh was born in is getting into the Pluto act themselves.
     MSNBC Science Editor Alan Boyle will be a guest speaker at a special event at Streator City Hall Friday called “The Case for Pluto”.
     Boyle wrote a book with that exact name and has won awards from many science, space, and journalism groups for his contributions.
     The event takes place at Streator City Hall at 7 PM Friday and Boyle will be there to sign copies of his book at the session.
     During the day Friday, Boyle will also go around to Streator grade and high schools and talk about Pluto with students.

Grand Ridge School Registration


Grand Ridge School Registration will be held Tuesday, August 3rd from 9am until 2pm and 5pm until 7pm and again on Wednesday, August 4th from 9am until noon.  You will need to bring proof of residency which can be a real estate tax bill, utility bill, drivers' license or voter's card.  Classes begin August 23rd.

River Rescue Golf Outing


 

On August 21st the Ottawa River Rescue Squad and Pine Hills Golf Course will be sponsoring their 1st Annual Golf Outing. All proceeds raised from the outing will be used to update equipment and facilities and to continue high quality training to members who will be able to better serve the community. The outing is a 3-4 Person Best Ball Scramble format. Prizes will be awarded including a 2010 Chevy Cobalt for a Hole-In-One. Cost is $60 per person or $240 per 4 man team. Includes 18 holes of golf with cart , tickets for 6 free beverages, door prizes, chances at hole prizes and a pork chop dinner. To register go to www.ottawariverescue.org or call 815-866-9656.
