Somonauk -- Authorities say both drivers involved in a head-on wreck south of Somonauk early Sunday morning were under the influence of alcohol and one was also under the influence of drugs. Thirty-one year old Daniel J. Cassin of Somonauk is charged with drunk driving, improper lane use, and failure to wear a seat belt. Twenty-seven year old Randy M. Vineyard of Sandwich is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, not wearing his seat belt, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Both drivers were hurt seriously enough to be flown to hospitals out of the area. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the accident and didn’t have any more information about it Sunday morning.
