Ottawa -- Ottawa fire fighters removed an electric clothes dryer from a LaSalle County Housing Authority apartment in the 1700 block of Seneca Dr. Tuesday afternoon. Capt. Buck Manley says in his report the appliance was hot to the touch and the flexible vent tube had been disconnected. He says there was a lot of clutter around the dryer too, causing a fire hazard.
The woman who lives in the apartment said an inspector from the Department of Housing and Urban Development had been to the place last Tuesday and everything was okayed.
